Buying the Table

As soon as we made the decision to buy, I began researching tables on the Web. Some sites have really good information for anyone interested in buying a pool or billiard table. One such site is Gandy's.

We live in a somewhat rural area, so we decided to check out what was available in the Big City, 70 miles away. According to the telephone book, there were only two billiard stores in Tucson: Cal Spas and Connelly Billiards. We drove by Cal Spas and saw only spas (i.e., whirlpools and hot tubs) in their display window. Hubby didn't want to go in. He said, "I'm not buying a pool table from a place that sells hot tubs." So we went on to Connelly.

At the time, we had never heard of Connelly. We quickly found out that they are one of the top three billiard table manufacturers. A big surprise to us -- and a definite plus in making our decision -- was that the Connelly factory is located right in Tucson!

As I write this, it is the eve of table delivery. Tomorrow, 3 April 1997, the Connelly truck will roll up to our front door and out will pop a pool table. Well, maybe it won't happen quite like that.
